Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
Stokes is proud to be the Public Outreach lead for the P3 team on VDOT’s Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project. This ambitious project will upgrade 22.5 miles of Interstate 66 between I-495/Capital Beltway and U.S. Route 29 in Gainesville. The upgrades include adding two new express lanes in each direction and adding auxiliary lanes where necessary. Major interchange improvements include creating new and expanded park-and-ride lots totaling more than 4,000 new spaces.
The project also includes 11 miles of new shared-use trail along I-66 that integrates with county and park trails, and 11 bridges with new or expanded additional bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
Partnering directly with the Director of Corporate Affairs and the Public Relations Manager of the P3 team, Stokes’ role is to ensure effective, thorough messaging through public outreach and media/stakeholder relations. Stokes is facilitating community and stakeholder meetings, advising on media trends, managing social sites/media monitoring and managing the project hotline. Stokes will provide this comprehensive project, involving many different stakeholder groups, with distinct yet cohesive messaging on all issues and updates throughout construction, including online/print materials and presentations.
