Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Expansion Project: Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) Hearings
Stokes Creative Group, Inc. provided public involvement support to the MTA, LIRR and NYSDOT in delivering an unprecedented level of public outreach for the LIRR Expansion Project – enabling the public to provide important feedback. The EIS scoping process evaluates and analyzes any potential environmental impact caused by a project.
To maximize public involvement efforts, Stokes coordinated information-sharing sessions with all stakeholders. More than 1,000 individuals attended the six DEIS public hearings in Westbury, Hempstead and New Hyde Park. At each hearing, Stokes team members facilitated the registration and public comment process for the DEIS. Participants had their concerns heard, both in public and private forums, and submitted written comments via an online database or in comment cards.
Stokes took an all-hands approach, with more than 15 key staff members, in assisting with involvement support, photo documentation and data management of the 700+ comments received.
