A section of New Jersey Route 17 just north of I-80 condenses traffic to two lanes in each direction with large segments that have no breakdown lanes. The area has been the subject of several studies but continues to have traffic issues on a regular basis. This stretch of Route 17 falls within the boroughs of Maywood and Paramus and the Township of Rochelle Park.

For the Bergen County Department of Planning and Engineering Route 17 Bottleneck Study, Stokes Creative Group, Inc. (Stokes) supported the development of robust public outreach services and stakeholder engagement plans throughout the duration of the project.
During the planning process, the Stokes team provided clear communication in an effort to foster an understanding of the project goals among community groups who have previously opposed the study.
Our work included facilitating and organizing local officials briefings and virtual public information centers, creating visually appealing presentations and technical images, translating documents into Spanish, and establishing a new Route 17 Bottleneck Study website that serves as an information hub and resource for the community
