The I-270 Innovative Congestion Management project was designed to reduce traffic congestion through the use of adaptive ramp metering and active traffic management. In addition to reducing congestion and creating safer driving conditions for the mainline I-270 corridor and its surrounding highway network, the improved design is supportive of other projects and highways in the area, such as the Watkins Mill Road Interchange, the Intercounty Connector, and the Purple Line. Stokes Creative Group, Inc. (Stokes) was proud to lead the public outreach on this project.

Stokes proactively addressed the need to differentiate this project from several others in the area with the same highway name. Stokes’ film crew, graphic designers, and public outreach specialists met these challenges, and the firm welcomed the opportunity to utilize its public outreach and multimedia experience to benefit the traveling public along this corridor.
The public and other stakeholders agreed that they would like to be educated on how traffic flow would be improved, how the innovative technology being used for the I-270 ICM works, and how this particular type of traffic management benefits a roadway. Stokes was there to take on this education process through public outreach, graphic design, and video production.
