The City of Jersey City, New Jersey, has experienced sustained growth since the 1980s and has consistently maintained its master plan over the years, with significant updates in 2000 and 2008. This Open Space, Recreation and Community Facilities Element builds on the 2000 Master Plan effort, the 2008 Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, and more recent planning processes in support of a comprehensive plan for the city.

Stokes Creative Group, Inc., supported the project in various ways. Our team performed extensive survey analysis and created a written report on Jersey City residents’ habits and priorities for open space in Jersey City. Stokes also attended and facilitated a public open house at Berry Lane Park and provided photography of key locations and a summary of all public outreach activities and results of the various engagement efforts for the final report.
In addition, Stokes’ graphics team designed and produced a bilingual postcard informing recipients of the public meeting, providing access to the project website, and offering ways for the public to contribute to the master plan process.
While it was challenging to reach all parts of the community amidst the COVID-19 regulations and the pandemic caused a four-month delay, the project was successfully completed with a comprehensive report delivered to the City of Jersey City.
